The service

Dear Pantser provides AI-powered tools for indie authors: cover generation, market analysis, plot editing, and export. The service is provided as-is, and we continuously improve it. You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

Credits

AI-powered features consume credits. Credits are purchased in packages and are non-refundable once used. Unused credits remain in your account indefinitely. Free features (browsing, editing without AI, exporting) do not consume credits.

Your content

Your manuscripts, plots, blurbs, and any text you write belong to you. Dear Pantser claims no rights over your content.

By using the service, you grant Dear Pantser a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, process, and transmit your content solely as necessary to provide the service. This license does not grant us the right to sell, distribute, or use your content for any other purpose.

AI-generated content

Covers, plot suggestions, and market analyses are generated by third-party AI models (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Flux). Story Starters are pre-generated using Midjourney. Dear Pantser claims no ownership over AI-generated outputs and imposes no restrictions on their commercial use.

However, the legal status of AI-generated images (copyright, ownership) varies by jurisdiction and is evolving. It is your responsibility to verify that your use complies with applicable laws in your country. For quick self-publishing (KDP, IngramSpark), AI-generated covers are widely accepted. For high-stakes commercial use, we recommend consulting a professional designer.

AI outputs may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and editing all AI-generated content before publishing.

Acceptable use

Do not use Dear Pantser to generate illegal, harmful, or infringing content. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer the service or abuse the credit system. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund of unused credits.

Data & backups

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, Dear Pantser does not guarantee against data loss. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of manuscripts, covers, and other content. We recommend regularly exporting your work using the built-in export tools.

Limitation of liability

Dear Pantser is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dear Pantser disclaims all warranties and liabilities related to your use of the service. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential losses resulting from the use of AI-generated content, including but not limited to publishing outcomes, sales, reputation, or intellectual property disputes.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dear Pantser, its founder, and its employees from any claims, damages, or disputes arising from your use of the service, including the publication or distribution of AI-generated content.

Changes

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be communicated via the email associated with your account.
